Prom & Aqil
Prom is over!
It was, hmm, what's the word, PURE HELL?
Alright, it wasn't that bad. It's just, it felt like practically my whole prom experience was cursed. From The Beginning. Seriously! Like, the first day I went prom dress shopping - I fell ill. I practically keeled over while trying on dresses, and I can tell you, my mum was not happy that I had dragged her all the way into the city for no good reason - so unhappy was she that she didn't even believe me when I said I was sick.
Okay, that was screwed up, I don't know what was wrong with HER at that point, but yeah, IT'S TRUE. I stayed sick all the way till prom. I ended up last-minute shopping the day before prom, and we went all the way to Jurong Point. My sister said it wasn't far, it was only "a few stops after Woodlands". Um, UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE CENTURY, MUCH? We had to go like, all the way to Jurong East and then switch trains! Insert indignant, indistinct snort here! I think I'm allergic to travelling too far by public transport, because on that day, my fever which had subsided that morning, was back with a vengeance by the time I got home.
On the actual day I rested as long as I could, then we went out to do more last minute shopping. I then got my hair done, had dinner, and went home to get ready. We finally set off fifteen minute before seven in a taxi - surprisingly, I wasn't that late.
Once I was actually there, there was the problem with the food. There were the "Muslim" tables and the "Everyone Else" tables. Well, since I didn't know many Muslim people that well, and I wanted to spend my prom night with my friends instead of a table full of people I'm not that close to - not an unreasonable request, I think - I skipped out on dinner and sat at the mostly Shoethrower table, sipping at my warm water. My poor voice suffered that night - it honestly hurt to talk. Towards the end of the night, I was getting by just by tapping on people's backs and pointing at their cameras, and then at myself.
Oh yeah. Another thing. Since my camera has moodswings, I decided against bringing my own camera and thus had to keep using cameras belonging to various other people - and as a result, I now have no idea where most of the prom pictures I took went.
Either that or I just didn't take that many pictures. Anything's a possibility, because I seriously can't remember that night very well. 'Cest la vie, I suppose, but still. I imagined my prom night to be so, incredibly different from the reality, it's not even funny. I mean, there wasn't even a dancefloor - not that I'd have been able to dance, in my condition. But it would have been nice to have the option. Jeez.
Despite the disappointments, I must say, it was still a great night. Everyone was looking beautiful, the hotel itself was spectacular, and I think it was a good way for us to say goodbye to secondary school life. For some of us, it was the first time putting on make-up, or dressing up, and so prom was good practice for the future. That night, I saw a glimpse of the adult that everyone was going to turn into one day, and I must say, I was impressed, haha. We clean up good.
Of course, after prom I went straight home and nursed my fever, cold and sore throat RIGHT through my class chalet.
That's still a sore spot with me, so we shall swiftly move on!
Two nights ago, I think, we celebrated my nephew, Aqil Mirza's birthday. It was really quite fun, although the wait for everyone to arrive so we could finally get at the food was torturous. Peep this - the party started at seven thirty, and we ate at around ten. TEN! It was crazy. We played Monopoly to pass the time. I was the "unofficial" winner! That basically means that I would have won if we finished the game, it's just that by that time, everyone was too preoccupied drooling at the food to concentrate on the game.
Monopoly, I think, is the official game of this particular family. Ever since forever, we've been playing monopoly to pass the time. I don't know why, but I do know that many a happy afternoon has passed with us all fighting tooth and nail for Mayfair.
Good times.
I had a turn carrying all three stars in the party, though I carried Kat the most and Aqil the least - Widad moderate, I'd say. I'm going to need practice carrying Aqil for our babysitting gig this coming Saturday! Yeah, at long last! Babysitting! Just like I always dreamed!
Well, aaaanyway, it was great spending time with the cousins again, all things considered. It was a reunion, of sorts, for some more than others, and that's always a great thing. ;)
Blood is thicker than water, bitches, don't forget it!
Lotsa love,
-az P.S. Again, posted up pictures for convenience. The first batch is of prom, the second of Aqil's birthday party.
I think I look sick in all the pictures.
Aqil's Party
^^ That's my aunt and uncle with good old Katrina! Isn't her hair ADORABLE?
^^I wrote on those balloons, thanks very much. There's another set of balloons that spell out Aqil's name, but there wasn't a good picture of it.
^^The presents, and next to it you see a shot of us attacking the food. SOME of us were so ravenous we were hugging a plate while singing the birthday song, lol. I deny being some of us.
^^Widad and Aqil! I think that in both pictures, Widad looks incredibly cuuute!!! I could pass out from her cuteness, honestly.
My mum with Aqil, and next to that is a shot of us attacking the chicken! This was right after we sang the birthday song and blew out the candle, haha. Aqil is one year old this year, by the way.
There you see the cake and the birthday boy. Love the face he's making.
Party mayhem. Waiting to sing the birthday song.
The scrumptious food, and next to that a picture of Kat.
Birthday cake and the birthday boy. CUTE.
Aqil with his mum and dad!
Isn't the happy birthday banner cool?
This is early in the evening when we were playing monopoly. Aqil's mom is letting him ride my cousin - you can't see it in the picture, but he has grown some giant shoulders since the last time I saw him. He's a gym buff! And he's also the monopoly expert.
Parting shots of Katrina! *Cue AWWWW*

NINJAS, OIII!
HAIIII!
NINJAS, OOOOOOIIIIIIIIIIIII!
AIYAIYAI I'M A LITTLE BUTTERFLY
GREEN BLACK AND BLUE, WHERE'S MY LITTLE SAMURAI?
HAI!!!!!!
Lol. That was just ONE of the many, many cheers they made us learn during the three-day camp. INCREDIBLE fun, though my opinion is most likely swayed by the AWESOME AWESOME finale.
Red Camp totally lived up to the hype. On the first day, we went to the school of Life Sciences and Technology. It was super cool! One of the lecturers introduced liquid notrogen to us. He threw a potful of it onto the floor, and it just BAMMED! I dunno how to describe it, haha, but it was awe-inspiring. We asked for an encore, lol. It just sort of visibly dissolved, and all that was left was the smoke swirling around on the floor, like heaven. HAHA. It was preeetttyyyy. Plus he poured liquid nitrogen into pots filled with marshmallows and biscuits, and asked us to eat it. The marshmallows had hardened, and when we breathed out, smoke came out of our mouths! It was FREAKING COOL. The biscuits, however, weren't as delicious - like Jem once said about snowflakes, it was so cold, it burned.
We got this tiny little potted plant, (which I then murdered after I stupidly put it into my bag) and they showed us their operating rooms! Basically they have all the official hospital equipment, and they put in mannequins on the hospital beds. They were freakishly realistic. One of them had blood actually running through (his? its?) veins, and (okay, his) eyes kept blinking... He had these horrible gashes in his leg that were oozing actual fake blood (lol). And he was breathing. Charz and I pretty much agreed that we would not want to be in the room alone with that guy. Ever. Plus one mannequin had this bag of urine suspended by the side of his bed - apparently it was ice lemon tea. Hahaha. We had a good laugh over that.
The rest of the first day continued in a similar vein, except that Charlotte and I got progressively more exhausted... We were not built for such strenuous exercise of cheering and walking around, nope. Lol. We got KFC for lunch. The same thought came to both our minds : Nazry. Poor boy.
Anyway, the first day tired us out so much that we didn't go to the second day. Haha. I overslept, and Charlotte didn't. We decided to skip together anyway. At the rate we were going, we would have tired out before the third day, and that wasn't good, because our tour of the school of FMS was on the third day. So, we had a leisurely breakfast of Famous Amos cookies, since all the food shops at Bishan (which was where we met) weren't open yet. Except for McDonalds. But NO.
Had one long good day of rest (and freaking out over the no prom dress STILL situation), and soon enough it was day three. Awesome day, we finally got to learn about FMS, freaking cool, but nothing we haven't seen before. After all, since we both want to go to this school, we've got to have done our homework, lol. Then we went to the School of Humanities, which was awesome. We got to see this SUPER CUTE puppet show! And a magic show! That was for early childhood education, of course. And we made a panda on a steeek with clay. I killed my panda too. This time, it was on purpose. Mimi or Momo or whatever his name is was hideous. I'm remaking him.
After that we went back to the Convention Centre... Ate lunch, which was good.. And spent the rest of the day in the CC. They showed us a goodbye video, we got to see the top 4 idols, we finally saw the finale of the Monkey Boi chronicles, and we practiced the mass dance... We had the cheer off, which was just like the mass dance; confusing but fun. Lol. Oh, we also broke two of the records in the Singapore Book of Records! For the most number of people doing the hokey-pokey dance and the most number of people putting a lollipop into their mouth at the same time. Hahaha. Gosh, was that ever difficult! ;P
Charlotte left after she saw Sezairi sing (cue hearts and sighs), and then I went back in time to say goodbye to the idols. Spent the rest of the day with our school people, basically Rachel and gang and Sarah Huda and Isabelle Ang. We had dinner together, had a few last cheers, and finally HOP NITE began!
It was my first official clubbing experience, and honestly speaking, it was CRAZY FUN! I mean, there were the performances and the giving out of freebies, which were, you know, alright. But once they cranked up the music, and there was nothing to do except dance, it was just... Boomz. I seriously don't know how to describe it any other way, lol. The strobe lights were flashing, the music was pounding, and everyone was just having an awesome time. Everyone just let go of their inhibitions and let loose! Sarah, Isabelle and I danced our butts off. Everyone sang along with the songs, everyone jumped together, and there were these little circles for dance-offs (which bored me, I preferred just dancing, hah) all over the dancefloor. We danced for around an hour and a half, and the longer we danced, the easier it felt. The time literally flew by, and it was like the music just blocked out any thoughts in my head. There was no thinking involved, lol, it was just pure dancing. It was FANTASTIC.
One thought did enter my mind, though, after it was all over: I've got to do that again.
Gosh. I won't say anything else, I'll ruin the happy glow I have on right now just thinking of it. I had the best time.
lotsa love,
-az

Lalala
Yep, official end of 'O' levels. Actually it's been officially over for a few days already, I've just been lazy to update. Nothing much happening on the volunteer front, been asking around but so far no leads. Will keep looking around.
Currently in bloody Woodlands library. Today I went from Yishun library to Sembawang library and finally ended up here - all to find a suitable place for me to write. It's bloody hard to concentrate at home, I can tell you that. Now that I'm here, I'm concentrating a little better but not by much because, as you can see, I'm currently online blogging.
At least I'm finally writing, though. Most other days when I started writing I'd get stuck and read/eat/watch TV/play SIMS/go to the park and play/sleep instead. Horrible. Currently making inroads into James' POV, hopefully I'll get this chapter over and done with and finally get to the interesting part!
Next three days I have little hope of doing anything, though, because I've got Red Camp coming up. It starts freaking early in the morning, I've got half a mind to ask Charz if I can stay over at her house for the next few days, it's infinitely easier. Red Camp sounds like it'll be loads of fun though!
Anywho, I'll blog again at the end of Red Camp and we'll see then if it really lives up to the hype.
Right now, back to James!
lovelovelove,

Change
When I made up my mind and my heart along with that to live not for myself but yet for God somebody said "Do you know what you are getting yourself into?"
When I finally ironed out all of my priorities and asked God to remove the doubt that makes me so unsure of these things I ask myself I ask myself "Do you know what you are getting yourself into?"
I'm getting into you because you got to me in a way words can't describe I'm getting into you because i've got to be you're essential to survive I'm gonna love you with my life
When he looked at me and said "I kind of view you as a son" and for one second our eyes met and I met that with a question; "Do you know what you are getting yourself into?"
I'm getting into you because you got to me in a way words can't describe I'm getting into you because I've got to be you're essential to survive I'm going to love you with my life
I've been a liar and I'll never amount to the kind of person you deserve to worship you you say you will not dwell on what I did but rather what I do you say "I love you, and that's what you are getting yourself into."
I'm getting into you (getting into you) because you got to me (because you got to me) in a way words can't describe I'm getting into you (getting into you) because I've got to be (because I've got to be) you're essential to survive I'm going to love you with my life
I'm getting into you (getting into you) because you got to me (because you got to me) in a way words can't describe I'm getting into you (getting into you) because i've got to be (because I've got to be) you're essential to survive I'm going to love you with my life
You said "I love you, and that's what you are getting into."
----- It's nearly the end of the 'O' levels - for months before this day, I've been compiling a list of things I wanted to do after it's all over. That list included things such as "get my brother fit (by his request)", "finally play SIMS", "become a volunteer", "watch old movies", "write a whole lot more", "become closer to God", "learn to speak Malay without an accent" and "learn to speak conversational Chinese". Among other things, of course. Suffice it to say, I'll be very busy these next few months.
Looking forward to it, though. ;)
Now let's see, time to recollect the things that happened to me so that in the future if I ever forget (which I will) I can just read back my entries to remember again. Hmm, when was the last time I posted? I'll pick up from there..
Ah, yes. The last day of school. Well, after that, the two weeks of study week were alright, focused much of my energy on Math and art. Went to a few of those night study sessions, which were pretty fruitful, actually. Time flew by, although at some moments (usually while studying) it felt like time was crawling by.
Quickly enough, Graduation Day came around. It began with us going to the classroom and sharing some last words with Mrs Cheah, usual stuff. Then we went down to the hall for the Graduation Ceremony. I was planning on sitting with all the girls, but somehow I ended up with Gavin and Wei Xiang on either side of me. Lol, nonetheless, it was great fun, although the graduation ceremony itself was pretty boring.
The graduation walk was pathetic, 'nuff said. The lower-secondary students are either unappreciative bastards or we've just never been such good seniors to them. Something tells me that it's the latter... But pfft. No way. We rock. ;P
After that we collected our graduation magazine and our mug (which I tragically lost!), and my class went up to the classroom together for the last time. I don't quite know why we decided to go back, maybe we wanted to take pictures or something. Anyway, once we were there, we stayed there for ages, until all my plans with the Shoethowers kind of faded out of my mind.
Anyway, during those last few hours, we took a billion pictures and wrote in each other's grad mags. Slowly, people started to leave; first in ones, then in groups. Then I locked my classroom for the last time. Goodbye, years of running to the classroom with 23 eyes staring daggers at me! In some perverse way, I will miss you.
After that I met up with the gang and had a quick lunch before running off to study, as always.
Days passed, and soon enough the science practical was upon us. The actual exam was alright; the time spent in the isolation room was priceless. Had much fun, especially while watching and laughing at - I mean, with - the boys who really needed to pee. Yes, good times, good times... For me, at least. ;P
After that, the exams came at me fast and furious. I remember the first few days, Charlotte and I kept messaging, "Can you believe it's here?" and "Can you believe it's over?", the same words, day after day. Again, at times, time moved sluggishly, and at others, hours were lost in what felt like seconds.
Towards the end, though, the novelty wore off, and I could almost smell the freedom. And now that it's practically upon me; it's hard for me to believe.
More updates on my newfound freedom coming up. Right now it's time to sleep, yes at an extremely reasonable hour. I treasure my beauty sleep, eh, please. I don't care if it's the holidays, I will now FOREVER treasure every moment I have of sleeping, because I know what it's like to live without it! (Just like fasting, eh?)
Lotsa love,
-azira

Last Day Of Secondary School! EVER!
The last day of secondary school. Like, REAL school. With lessons and recess and sleeping in class and everything. It's the last of it, forever.
It's so... weird. Unreal. It certainly didn't go like I thought it would. First of all, I couldn't even find my camera this morning. Annoying. So 4A2 didn't even take ONE picture together on our last day as a class. But never mind. There's still graduation day, and prom night - oh! Which, we just found out today, is going to be a LOT more fun because there's a DANCE FLOOR!
Awesome.
Anyway, this is worse than the camera thing - I didn't get to eat at my FAVOURITE number two stall! NOO!!!!!
I nearly cried when I went down after class and saw that all the stalls were closed. Nearly. :(
Other than that, it was a pretty standard day. I did no studying in class today, though. During mothertongue I sat with the others and played with the sweets that DaJi won at Timezone or something. LOL.
Yea, it was an uneventful day. It could even be classified underneath disappointing, because of the whole "didn't get to eat at stall numero duo and camera fiasco" situation. But still. It's worth writing about, just because of the significance of the day. It's our last day of school. After all these years, and the wonderful memories, and the useless homework. Gone.
This school was the place where my rose-tinted sunglasses were snatched off my face, thrown on the floor, and stomped to pieces - which wasn't, by the way, a bad thing, lol. This was the place where I learned not to be so naive; not to expect anything so that I'd never be disappointed; how to hide and show the right emotions; how to laugh; how to cry; how to say the word 'fuck'; how to let go of the small things, and focus on the big picture; how to forgive.
..How to love?
Naaaaaaaah. Not yet. I think I did learn something about love, though. I don't know how to put it into words; love is kinda intangible like that, lol. But, I know that I did learn something. Something along the lines of, "love is limitless". Something like that. You can give and give and give, and it still feels like you've not given enough, for some crazy reason; I've seen examples of it myself, and I've BEEN in that position myself. Though I don't know if that was love, exactly..
Anyway. So yeah. This school taught me so much - hardly any of that in the classroom, by the way, lol. Except perhaps the literature classroom. ;)
It's weird to think that we'll be saying goodbye so soon.
However; truth be told, if I do not bid farewell right now to this blog page and start studying, I may be seeing too much of said school next year as a repeat student. And I don't love the school THAT much. So I'mma just go now.
Adieu, adieu, adieu.

I had the best time.
lotsa love,
